The challenges at nanoscale are unique. Standard analytical practice and metallurgy are not well suited for studying or treating complex nanoparticles. Conventional gold extraction technology is only suitable for extracting particles down to a few microns. Smaller than this and the ore is considered refractory with recovery becoming increasingly problematic. The smaller the metal particles are the more refractory and therefore complex the ores become to treat.

Nanotechnology research has proven that a nanoparticle of gold will behave differently than a regular piece of gold. Our science team have made study of ultra fine gold particles and successfully applied lessons learnt in the field of nanotechnology to the field of metallurgy.
